Elf, The Gardens

Like humans, elves evolved from jellyfish. However there was a second part to their evolution. All the early humans a thousand years ago living in The Gardens prior to The Goddess passing are the current elves in the world. As a reaction to the foreign magic in the world, the then humans' features began to change into elves both internally and externally.

Elves are believed to be created in the likeness of The Goddess who passed. Perhaps in her world, all her creations looked like her as well.

Externally the most notable sign of elves would be their pointy ears which could range from any size.

Internally, elves were now granted the ability to practice magic, which was essentially tapping into the nature of The Goddess's original world. The earliest elves did not need spells and could simply command the nature of The Gardens. Elven magic is most potent in The Gardens as it is the source of their power.

Elves can only be born between 2 full blooded elves. In theory, there are many different ways to have a child, but now, New elven children are very rare because of the reincarnation limitations and the balance The Jellyfish Spirit oversees.

Procreation is not limited to only male and female couples: there are certain types of plants native to The Gardens that can help grow a child. In the earlier days, many elves would seek out a plant that required a drop of blood from each parent and after 12 months of nurturing, the plant would blossom into an infant.

Elves now live within The Gardens because of the magical barrier. In the past it was easier for elves to cross between The Gardens and The Continent but because of how magic has changed over time, it is more difficult for elves to leave The Gardens now. They are mainly secluded.

There are a group of elves however that do live in The Continent, mostly in The Undawn, an area rarely visited by the humans.

Elven life spans can theoretically last forever. Once reaching adulthood, elves cannot die from old age and rarely have diseases. In that sense, they are believed to be immortal.

Within The Gardens, there are no illnesses that can affect elves. In addition, they do not require food or drink as the magic within The Gardens can naturally sustain them.

It is noted that, elves can die from non-natural causes.

There are more things that can kill elves outside of The Gardens. The Gardens are almost entirely a safe haven for elves. Because of this, elves have mostly stayed secluded in The Gardens.

Once outside of The Gardens, the immune system of elves weaken as their connection with the magic in The Gardens thins out.

This is partly why most elves outside of The Gardens still stay very close to the borders (The Undawn).

Outside of The Gardens, elves will also feel hunger and require basic necessities that were not needed within The Gardens.

Now that The Jellyfish Spirit has been regulating elven souls, very few elven children have been born in the last hundred years.

Elves in the Undawn live separately from The Gardens and the rest of The World.

They have a small community there, away from human civilization.
