Week 14
Blog Post #12: Final GDD
This is the blog post for week 14 (that should be uploaded to Blog Post #14's submission). For this week, we are at the finish line of our games. I finalized my final copy of my GDD and formatted it a bit. The total page count ended up at around 30 pages after including all the images. I didn't get the change to design a cover for my game, but I included all the artwork I did so far, including a drawing from the intro cutscene animation I made. I also have all 3 short melodies I wrote for the game-- the opening loading screen music, the credits page music, and my game background music that plays throughout the level.
It was kind of nice to look back at the first GDD I wrote to see how much progress and changes I've made since. There was no way I could have everything from my original game idea done for this semester, but also I think my game idea wasn't fully developed until I started working on the game itself. The one thing I wish I could have spent more time on was the game's UI. I didn't get a change to customize much of it due to time restraints and wish I could fit the aesthetic I was going for more.

I'm incredibly surprised by how much I was able to do in a handful of weeks. The newest thing I added to my game was my intro cutscene-- I used the media player to create a media texture that autoplays my video. I added the texture to a 2D Plane with a camera facing it that gets triggered by a sequence that starts at the beginning of the game. I also added some level streaming to hopefully lighten the load of the game. I've started adding in some VFX that I hope to finish with this weekend and I know it will slow things down.
