Blog Post #5: 3D Assets
Hi guys! This week I worked on some of the 3D assets I want in the game: a lamp (with a candle inside), a crate, a barrel, and a door-- I'm planning on repeating these assets all throughout the first half of the game (inside the castle). For the 2nd level, I think I'll try to work more with the landscaping tools in Unreal versus making a bunch of detailed objects. I haven't tested out putting the objects into Unreal yet (and I'm not sure how the textures will transfer), but I plan on figuring it out tomorrow. I also have another WIP of my 3D model! I might start over from scratch because I think I figured out some easier ways to do some of the parts (the hair), but this is what I have so far. I also think I'll try to use Mixamo to rig the character. This tutorial from my 3D modeling class seems straightforward enough, but I'll be using it on a free trial, so I don't plan on testing it out until I have a model I'm satisfied with. Also, I'm hoping to have some time to map out some of my first level tomorrow.
